MEMBERS UPDATE: 1ST NOVEMBER 2002 14:00
Our employers have stated that they believe there is a case
for an increase for grey book staff above the 4% offered. They
called the talks constructive.
We remain committed to the pay claim submitted to the NJC
on the 28th May 2002.
The talks so far have resulted in the agreement for a new
pay formula with a link to the movements in pay for the whole
APT male and female pay movements as detailed in the New Earnings
Survey. Further work would still have to be done by the Joint
Secretaries on the technical detail.
The Employers have agreed to consider further evidence to
be provided by the FBU in support of its claim for pay parity
between Emergency Fire Control Operators and Firefighters and
any change will, as per the rest of our claim, be adjusted to
the 7th November 2002.
Retained Pay Parity has been discussed and the employers want
further talks on a pay structure to reflect the fact that the
job is the same but with differing duty systems.
So far the talks have resulted in both side stating that they
felt the talks were constructive and we had moved on. The joint
statement on where we had got to was a positive point. However
there has been no offer as yet on what the rate over 4% will
be.
There has been nothing ‘set in stone’ regarding an offer as
all areas are still subject to further negotiations.
The strike day on 6th November is still on as of the time
of this message.
